@codeotaku Keep in mind this is a Japanese tournament, long before the double elimination bracket was standardized. Running a single-elimination tournament, with also a "second-chance" bracket, isn't out of the question. For instance, the M-1 Grand Prix Manzi tournament arrives at 8 Finalists, then 1 second-chance team emerges from all the losers. And I know I've see a 3rd Strike tournament played with similar rules.

I think your second idea is correct - they had enough entrants for 12 brackets, then ran all the losers through another bracket to arrive at a Top 16. I imagine it will work as a single-elimination tournament from here on out, meaning if Haruo loses he doesn't get his own second chance (unlike a proper double-elimination bracket)

Is it fair? no, not really. But these were lawless days.

@codetaku It didn't say only one re-entered. It said she was the last one who re-entered, which implies there were others who weren't the last.

Oh baby, keep looking at me like I’m filth!!!
I think overtime Haruo ended up developing quite the Oujou-sama fetish

@Darkchango its been 3 days since the last chapter and there are only five more chapters left so we good

I am so happy that Oono is also seeing the "gaming ghosts" just as Haruo.
And I am shocked that she lost on time against the cheater Hidaka. Jesuschrist she had already lost.

Will we have to wait another 4 months for next chapter????

You're really churning these out now, thanks!

Also, like, I think the author genuinely has no idea how tournaments work. Out of all the people who lost in the "group stage" (which was itself seemingly single-elimination), exactly one person was allowed to "reenter" from the "loser's bracket"?

Edit at @MawMaw :

That's image you linked is how a real bracket works. In that real double-elimination bracket, Akira would be stuck in "the loser's bracket" until the grand finals of the entire tournament. The "loser's finals" would be a fight between her and the *loser* of the "winner's finals", before the grand finals happened (and if the winner of the winner's finals lost in the first match of the grand finals, they'd essentially get a do-over).

In *this* bracket, Oono seems to have "won her way out of the loser's bracket" among all people who lost in the entire group stage, a concept that makes no sense at all. In the first place, the brackets were labeled A through L for 12 entries, which means she is the... 13th entry? Or are there actually 4 people who got "out of the loser's bracket" for 16 entries? Either way, it's nonsense.

God, I hate Hidaka. Not because she's the love rival but more on how she treats Haruo like shit.

And in the end they both get worked by a calm man with a beastly parry game

@Tcof an indepth analysis on this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGoIIV55hEc

TL;DW basically, it's a second chance for people who lost. Though it's going to be much tougher because people in the losers' bracket have more matches to fight, and that the top in the losers' bracket would have to win twice against the one in the winners' while the winners' side only needs to beat the top of the losers' once to become champion.

@Tcof @Bente_Koini

Everybody basically have two lives.

as seen above, Top 8 consist of 4 people in Winners (up) and 4 in Losers (down).
those who lose in Semi Finals (up) will go to [L] Quarter Finals (down) they fight it up to get to Losers Final (down).
the loser from Winners Final (up) will go to Losers Final (down) right away and the winner from that go to the Grand Finals.
the one who go to Grand Finals from the Losers bracket need to win twice, if it first-to-3 the Winner only need to win 3 times while the Loser need to win like 3x2 times (Losers winning the first set is basically them sending the Winners to a Losers status).

@Tcof I played darts and there it’s a common thing, so I believe it can be in videogame tournaments too
