@MelisaArtemis If you think back to how the marquess treats the older daughter, spoiling her and giving her everything she wants, yet still making sure she can behave in the company of other nobles and royals, you know what sort of a father he can be. However, regarding Leslie, it's a situation analogous to growing animals for the meat: If you know you are going to eventually slaughter the cow, sheep, or pig, you don't want to make friends with it and get too attached. They had to treat Leslie worse than a dog in order to be able to kill her when the time comes.

My heart just broke for Leslie... My god... How could anyone hurt such a sweet and smart child... I'd have spoiled her rotten...

For those wondering about the pancakes, they’re known as “Soufflé Pancakes”. They’re huge and very fluffy. I saw them in a korean recipe on YouTube <3.

Oh man I literally cried on this episode :’( Even if i myself haven’t tried Hot Chocolate, at least I know what it is... our poor Leslie ;0;

Those pancakes are actually quite good-- I've had them a few times in Tokyo.
They don't really taste different from regular pancakes, but they're just... taller I guess. I wouldn't even say it's similar to a cake, since it still has the texture of a pancake.
You fold whipped egg whites in baking since if you just stir them normally, the air bubbles get broken and it ends up being more dense than it's supposed to :p

Are they trying to give her diabetes???

@Solipsist to me it almost like "fluffy pancake" i even google it as big pancake and found it named as "fluffy pancake" but it might be cake just as you suggest

I started crying to think about she never had really nice pancakes before,, or maybe even sweets in general 😭

I was just about to say: "Those aren't pancakes, those are just cakes."
I was wondering what they add in there, because anything like baking-soda to that proportion will just be disgusting.

I can't imagine overly-oxygenated egg-whites will make it any tastier, though. My experience with fluffy pancakes are...Bad.

As a chef I'll tell you, those pancake are real! Japanese make these extra thick pancakes by folding in whipped egg whites into the batter, it's SOOOOoooo yummy!!!
